Weighted Linear Combination Procedures with GIS and Remote Sensing in Flood Vulnerability Analysis of Abeokuta Metropolis in Nigeria

The study offered the opportunity for an evaluation of role Remote Sensing and Geospatial techniques in flood disaster risk management development spatial decision support system assessment Abeokuta metropolis. Datasets used includes cloud free high resolution satellite images Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission (SRTM) data downloaded from earth explorer site. Soil was obtained Food Agriculture Organization (FAO’s) Harmonised World Database, while rainfall Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation Station. Maps enhancing factors namely: soil types, intensity, drainage density topography were created Geographic Information Systems using same scale 1: 50,000 coordinate (WGS 1984). All maps produced raster format with cell grid size 0.0028 mm. They then subjected to weighting by ranking Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA) Weighted Linear Combination. identified land use as key contributing flooding within Obstruction natural channels buildings aggravates disasters flash events.
